1、“名(ming)詞+and”結構
在(zai)這個結構中(zhong)，名(ming)詞等于狀語從句，或(huo)表(biao)示(shi)(shi)條件，或(huo)表(biao)示(shi)(shi)時(shi)間。
A word,and he would lose his temper.
2、“疑問詞+should…but ”結構
這個結構表(biao)示(shi)過去的意外的事，意為“none…but”，可譯為“除了(le)……還有誰會……”，“豈料”，“想不到(dao)……竟是……”等。
Who should write it but himself?
3、“the last+不定式”和“the last +定語從詞”結構
這(zhe)種結構(gou)中(zhong)的“last”意思是“the least likely”，用(yong)于否定(ding)性推(tui)論。可(ke)譯為“最不大可(ke)能(neng)的”，“最不合適的”，由(you)原意的“最后一個(ge)……”變(bian)成“最不可(ke)能(neng)……的一個(ge)”。
He is the last man to accept a bride.
4、“祈使(shi)句(ju)+and”和“祈使(shi)句(ju)+or”結構
“祈(qi)使句(ju)+and”表示“If…you…”，“祈(qi)使名+or”表示“if…not…you”。
Add love to a house and you have a home. Aad righteousness to a city and you have a community. Aad truth to a pile of red brick and you have a school.
5、“as…，so…”結(jie)構
這(zhe)里的“so”的意思是“in the same way”(也是如此)。此結構表明兩個概(gai)念在程度(du)上(shang)和關系上(shang)相似。
As rust eats iron,so care eats the heart.
6、“who knows but (that)…”和“who could should…but”結構
這個結構是(shi)反問形式(shi)，一般意譯(yi)為(wei)“多(duo)半(ban)”，“亦未可知”等(deng)等(deng)，有時也可直(zhi)譯(yi)。
Who knows but(that)he may go?
7、“be it ever(never)so”和(he)“let it be ever(never)so”結構
這里，“be it”中的(de)“be”是古(gu)英語假設語氣的(de)遺留(liu)形(xing)式(shi)，現代英語則使用(yong)“let it be”。“ever so”和(he)“never so”都表(biao)示同一意思(si)，都表(biao)示“very”。
Be it ever so humble(let it be ever so humble),home is home.
8、“so…that…”句型
這個句型的意思是“如此……，以致于……”，但在翻譯成(cheng)漢語時，許多情況下(xia)，并不(bu)是一定要(yao)譯成(cheng)“如此……以致于……”，而是變通表達其含義。
He ran so fast that nobody could catch him up.
9、“more + than+原級形容詞(副詞)”結(jie)構
這是將不同性質(zhi)加(jia)以比(bi)較(jiao)，其中的(de)(de)“more”有“rather”的(de)(de)意思。
It is more than probable that he will fall.
10、“if any”結構
“if any”和“if ever”，意思(si)是“果(guo)(guo)真(zhen)有……”，“即(ji)使有……”，表示加強語氣(qi)。與此(ci)類似的還有：“if anything”(如(ru)有不同的話，如(ru)果(guo)(guo)稍有區別)，“if a day”(=at least，至少)。
